Mick Egan Captures Tommy Kenny Cup
Mick Egan who plays his darts with Murray's of Knockcroghery captured the Tommy Kenny Cup held in Creaton's Bar Loughlynn on Sunday. Egan a runner up in the same event in 2004 had arguably one of the toughest route possible on the day. A preliminary round win over prominent county youth David Concannon and a first round win over Thomas Concannon were hard earned. As was his Quarter final win over Patrick Tansey. A narrow 5-4 win over Sean Finan in the Semi Final drew sweat, and a 6-5 win in the Final over Ballaghaderreen's Sean Fleming completed his victory.
44 players from all across the county took part on the day- and some performances are worthy of mention. Patrick Tansey of Spell's had 3x 180 scores in 3 legs to nil win over Mac's Stephen Victory who also had a 180 of his own. Sean Finan had a 109 checkout which was thehighest of the day. 104 from Matt Scally and a 103 from Jimmy Finn were among some other high shots on the day.
Presentations were made by Sharon Kenny- daughter of the late Tommy Kenny to all the winners.
In a fun game after the final- Sharon went on to beat runner up Sean Fleming on a convincing scoreline of 1-0.
